youth & restlessness: a touch of the 1960s at nyfw

Here and there the 1960s creeped into NYFW.  Inspired by the era, Chloë Sevigny staged a protest-styled fashion show at St. Mark's Church.

Opening Ceremony's Carol Lim says, "With Chloe, it’s always a story, and she wanted to focus on youth and restlessness. It kind of started when she went to visit Occupy [Wall Street] and she got really inspired. You know, the ’60s were obviously a big time when protests were happening and she really wanted to tap into that energy."

Here are some other 1960s-inspired looks from the Fall 2012 collections on the runways...

Charlotte Ronson

"I decided to go back to my roots, my British heritage," Ronson says. "[My collection] has a '60s feel—a lot of A-line skirts and higher necklines—and the makeup and hair is inspired by the '60s but also has a very modern feel."

Her collection had a lot of beautiful colors & patterns.

Designer Whitney Pozgay was inspired by Marianne Faithfull: "It's really about a very romantic girl being swept up in music, poetry, and art."
